As of July 1, 2018, I am serving as Director for the Gould Center for Humanistic Studies at Claremont McKenna College.  According to the Center’s mission statement, “The Gould Center for Humanistic Studies enhances CMC's mission to educate leading minds by providing opportunities for research, study, and experience in art, literature, history, philosophy, and other fields as a means to understand and develop the power and use of the imagination. The Gould Center provides mutual research opportunities for students and faculty in the humanities and emphasizes the relationship of the humanities and the moral imagination through special programs in a range of fields including music, art, and literature. The Gould Center accomplishes its goals by sponsoring research and visiting fellowships, lectures, seminars, artistic and musical performances, and traveling fellowships.” Some cool student projects we’ve recently sponsored are featured here, here, here, and here.

I currently run a blog on imagination called The Junkyard.  A description of the blog and an explanation of its name is available here. I have organized several conferences, including a conference on Imagination and Social Change and several online conferences in the C.O.V.I.D. series.

I serve as editor for the Imagination category for PhilPapers and I am one of several subject co-editors in Philosophy of Mind for the Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy. I am also the Philosophy of Mind subject editor for Thought: A Journal of Philosophy.

For 2023-24, I am serving as Vice President of the Pacific Division of the American Philosophical Association and also as a member of the APA Board of Officers. This will be followed by a term as President of the Pacific Division in 2024-25. I am also a member of the APA Committee on the Status of Women. I have previously served as President of the Southern Society for Philosophy and Psychology.
